The Cong is the volleyball club richest in traditions in the country, the only team that has participated in all 19 national championship seasons since 2004. In terms of attainments, the club has been the national champion four times and runner-up seven times. Attentively, The Cong men's volleyball team with many key players has contributed to the gold medal at the 2022 National Sports Festival for the military sports sector. Most recently, in the first round of the 2023 National Volleyball Championship, The Cong finished in the second place in Group B.

Along with the development of the national sports sector, domestic volleyball clubs have actively promoted the work of calling for resources from the society in order to attract more high-quality personnel and increase competitiveness in each tournament. Therefore, the valuable companionship of the Saigon Newport Corporation will help The Cong volleyball team have more funds to recruit more high quality domestic and foreign players and at the same time develop young ones.
Lieutenant Colonel Thai Anh Van, Head Coach of The Cong - Tan Cang volleyball team said that this is a very important resource for the team. The military’s high-performance sports accompanied by businesses will see positive changes with improvement in recruitment, daily life, training programs, and players’ food rations.
The Cong volleyball team used to be accompanied by Army Corp 15. In the 2014 season, The Cong - Army Corps 15 men's volleyball team were the national champion. Therefore, supporters hoped that with the signing of a cooperation agreement with Saigon Newport Corporation, The Cong - Tan Cang volleyball team will enter a new cycle of successes.
Senior Colonel Ngo Minh Thuan, the corporation’s General Director, said that the company will accompany the team in domestic and international tournaments and create the best conditions for the team to focus on practice and competition to bring high results to military sports sector.

Senior Colonel Ngo Minh Thuan expressed his belief in the fruitful combination of the two units. He underlined that the cooperation clearly showed the company’s pioneering mission of cooperating to promote the military sport movement and was seen as the team’s commitment and promise to achieve higher results in upcoming tournaments, bring more exciting matches for audiences, and continue to cultivate the tradition and strength of the military sports sector.
