The Cong Viettel won the championship of the national football Division 1 despite sharing the spoils with Da My Nghe Saigon at home. The Cong Viettel won the title two games ahead and will play in the national championship/V-League next season.

The Cong Viettel won promotion the V-League one week ago but they still needed a point to win the division.

Hosting against bottom-placed Da My Nghe Saigon was a good chance for The Cong Viettel to celebrate their triumph at home.

However, the home side had to wait until the 62nd minute to break the deadlock with Khanh Lam firing home.

Six minutes later Van Hung levelled the score for Da My Nghe Saigon.

Despite a draw, The Cong Viettel won the title as Van Hoa Haiphong dropped two points at Military Region Four Sara Group.

Thanh Binh opened the scoring after 24 minutes and Dang Van Thanh levelled with 18 minutes left.

The draw cost Van Hoa Haiphong second spot in the table as they dropped to third place. Dong Nai, who beat Quang Ninh Coal 2-0 at home with goals by Dinh Khang, replaced Haiphong on second spot.

Dong Nai are now one point clear of Van Hoa Haiphong and are on the verge of winning the second ticket to the V-League, alongside The Cong Viettel.

An Giang continued to slip as they lost 2-1 to Thanh Nghia Quang Ngai. Thanh Son scored the opener for the hosts and Quang Huy extended the lead with six minutes left and Michel Adeyemi narrowed the gap for An Giang two minutes later.

The defeat has dented An Giang's hope of winning the play-off position, not to mention a ticket to the V-League, as they are trailing Dong Nai five points with the league having two more games to go.
