While Tam Cam: The Untold Story is a fantasy film based on a popular Vietnamese fairy tale and invested much money in by its director, Ngo Thanh Van, The City of Mirrors: A Fictional Biography is a special experimental film produced at low cost by director Truong Minh Quy. Quy made the film himself and utilized the people and setting that are familiar to him to tell an unreal story, in which his parents are the main characters.

According to Kim Ji-seok, a founder of Busan International Film Festival, Tam Cam: The Untold Story is considered one of the first significant advance in introducing Vietnam’s films into the world’s market.

He added that the quality of the film is sufficient to meet the demand for recreation of both domestic and international audience.

Many Vietnamese outstanding films have previously been screened in A Window on Asian Cinema section like Bi, Dung So (Bi, Don’t Be Afraid) by Phan Dang Di, Dap Canh Giua Khong Trung (Flapping in the Middle of Nowhere) by Nguyen Hoang Diep, and Quyen (Farewell, Berlin Wall) by Nguyen Phan Quang Binh.

In addition, the project entitled Con Culi Khong Bao Gio Khoc (Culi Never Cries) by young director Pham Ngoc Lan is among 27 film projects to be presented in Asian Project Market 2016, an activity within the framework of the film festival.

Held every year in Busan, the Republic of Korea since 1996, Busan International Film Festival is one of the most important cinematic events in Asia. The festival of this year will take place on October 6-15, screening films from 69 countries.
