Vietnamese circus performers set Guinness record
PANO - Quoc Co and his brother Quoc Nghiep have climbed 90 steps of the Cathedral of Saint Mary of Girona in Spain in 52 seconds in a head-to-head contact position.

With this excellent performance, the Vietnamese circus performers broke the Guinness record set by Tang Tao and Su Zengxian from China who had scaled 26 steps in one minute in 2014, using the same technique, in Xiamen city, China’s Fujian province.
Their performance received encouragement and compliment from numerous Vietnamese people, circus performers and international friends. Many people called them “Vietnamese circus princes”. People’s Artist Vu Ngoan Hop said that the bothers’ achievement had made a remarkable contribution to popularizing the Vietnamese circus to the world.
Talking about the success, Co excitedly said they felt happy and proud. The circus performer added that he was dreaming to bring the Vietnamese circus to the world, and that their new Guinness record has been made like their dream coming true.
Quoc Co said that he and his bother will continue practicing “The Strength of Arms” to help people understand more about circus.
Regarding the reason why he had trained hard to set a Guinness record, he said, he had just wanted the Vietnamese circus to be acknowledged by the world, and his family to be safe, sound and happy.
Quoc Co and Quoc Nghiep have become well-known in Vietnam since they performed “The Strength of Arms” ten years ago. With this excellent circus performance, they have won a number of prizes at domestic and international competitions, including a golden prize at 2010 International Circus Festival.
