Preserving traditional craft villages in digital age
PANO - An exchange program was held on May 13 at the Ho Chi Minh City Book Street to promote the values of Vietnam’s traditional craft villages in modern life.

Within the framework of the program, an exchange session took place between artisans and young guests, including students passionate about traditional culture. Notably, artisan Tran Thi Yen, who has spent more than 40 years working in pottery, shared many stories about preserving and passing down her craft, as well as efforts to bring handmade products closer to modern life.

A highlight of the event was the introduction of the illustrated book series “Vang danh nghe co” (Honoring traditional crafts), which recently won the National Book Award (8th edition, 2026) by Kim Dong Publishing House.
On the occasion, Ho Chi Minh City Book Street is hosting an exhibition featuring images of typical craft villages in Ho Chi Minh City and nearby provinces such as Dong Nai, Dong Thap, and Tay Ninh. The exhibition is being carried out by students from the Faculty of Journalism and Communications at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.
The exhibition space showcases a variety of distinctive traditional crafts and it is open to the public free of charge until May 17.
