The space of the “Radiant Viet Nam” exhibition |
Visitors experience the nation’s long journey through photos ranging from time-worn black-and-white images to vibrant contemporary color ones. A large public audience attended to view and read the captions about significant historical events and prominent figures.
The exhibition comprises three sections arranged in chronological order, seamlessly conveying the story of national construction and defense. Each photo serves as a historical slice, portraying a Viet Nam that has overcome numerous challenges to achieve its current appearance.
The opening section, titled “Heroic Autumn atmosphere,” vividly recreates the autumn atmosphere of 1945. It highlights the photo of President Ho Chi Minh reading the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square, alongside a typewritten copy of the Declaration. Images of the masses facing the rostrum with a flag with a yellow star on the red background fluttering evoke deep emotions about the birth of the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam.

Nguyen Thu Ha (born in 1995, Hoan Kiem ward, Ha Noi) expressed her emotion upon revisiting the images of September 2, 1945, while conveying her pride in the nation’s history and gratitude to the generations who made sacrifices for the country’s independence.
The second section, “Defending independence and national reunification,” takes viewers back to the arduous yet glorious fighting journey during the two resistance wars against the French colonialists and American imperialists. Photos ranging from the Politburo’s meeting on the strategy to liberate the South to images of troops advancing into Buon Ma Thuot, Da Nang, and Trang Bom depict the strong momentum of military campaigns.
This area also displays images of the rear’s strength, showing workers and farmers diligently engaged in production. This recreates the atmosphere of the North enthusiastically emulating to implement President Ho Chi Minh’s appeal for “each person working as two” for socialism and national reunification.
The final section, “Viet Nam’s renewal, integration, and development,” portrays the country in the new era. Bright color photos of artisans preserving traditional crafts, soldiers performing duties on remote islands or assisting villagers, and bustling streets decorated with flags during major holidays create a panorama of a Viet Nam making an impressive development transition across various fields, from culture to foreign affairs.

Through the exhibition, the public reviews the journey from September 2, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, to the glorious victories in defending and building the country. The country has written a heroic epic of resilience, overcoming all challenges to reach independence, freedom, and happiness.
Today, that spirit continues to be promoted in the process of renewal and integration. Viet Nam affirms its position as an independent, self-reliant nation with growing international prestige, steadily advancing on the path of renewal with aspirations for peace and prosperity, and actively contributing to the region and the world.
