A Vietnam-Laos friendship golf tournament was held by the Vietnamese embassy in Vientiane on March 26 to celebrate the success of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party’s ninth National Congress and to welcome Lao New Year Bpee Mai.
Participants in the event included the Lao Vice President Bounnhang Vorachith, Deputy Prime Minister Somsavad Lengsavath, and many other senior Lao officials. On the Vietnamese side, there were Ambassador Ta Minh Chau, Envoy Luong Quoc Huy, and the leaders of the Vietnamese Association in Laos as well as many Vietnamese entrepreneurs.
On the occasion, the Long Thanh Golf Business (from Vietnam’s Dong Nai province) donated US$350,000 for Laos to build schools and treat disadavantaged patients. The Him Lam business from Vietnam also gave the Lao province of Attapu VND10 billion to help build schools.
The Vietnamese embassy previously held a similar golf tournament to celebrate the success of the 11th National Congress of the Vietnamese Communist Party and the Lunar New Year.
