Thousands of Buddhist monks, nuns and followers gathered at a ceremony at the Bai Dinh Pagoda in the northern province of Ninh Binh on May 9 night to pray for peace for the world.

The ceremony, attended by sangharaja and leaders of the World Buddhist Sangha and the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, was part of the activities within the framework of the ongoing 2014 United Nations Day of Vesak (Buddha’s Birth, Enlightenment and Passing Away).
After spiritual exercises, 96 monks representing the 95 participating countries and the rest of the world conducted a prayer for blessing to the people around the world.
