PANO - There will be many activities popularizing national sovereignty over sea and islands and supporting fishermen fishing offshore during the Vietnam’s Sea and Islands Week to be held in Hai Phong City on June 6th to 7th.
At a regular press briefing of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment on May 29th, Vu Sy Tuan, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Administration of Sea and Islands, said that the administration has set up programs on providing basic knowledge of national sea and islands for locals, as a foundation for the effective struggle of Vietnamese people against China’s illegal placement of the Haiyang Shiyou - 981 oil rig in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.
Tuan added that China’s wrongful acts and Vietnam’s assertion of its sovereignty over sea and islands will be highlighted at the meeting marking the World Ocean Day and the Vietnam’s Sea and Islands Week. Besides, movements to support fishermen will be launched.
