PANO – The Italy-Vietnam Friendship Association has issued a special publication titled “Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagoes: Vietnam’s united and indivisible parts” in Italian language, on the occasion of 20th anniversary of the Mekong Magazine.

The publication introduced Italian readers to the history of exploiting and exercising the sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) islands by Vietnamese people through different periods of time.

It detailed political and historical events and the debate after China illegally placed its Haiyan Shiyou-981 oil rig in Vietnam’s continental shelf and exclusive economic zone, which was considered an illegal move arousing international concern and threatening peace in the region.

Recently, the association presented this publication to universities, individuals and organizations in Italy and in EU countries.

Besides, the magazine’s website and Facebook have updated information on situation in the East Sea over the past time.

Ms. Sandra Scagliotti, Vietnamese Honourable Consul in Turin city, Italy, cum Editor-in-Chief of the publication, held that the publication represents the support of Italian people for Vietnam’s efforts to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and helps Italians know more about the unalienable rights of Vietnam over the two above archipelagoes.
