More than just a symbol of national sovereignty, these flags are part of the “I love my Fatherland - Presenting the national flags to fishermen” movement, initiated by the Youth Union of the Nghe An provincial Military Command and districts, towns, and units stationed in the locality.

Handing over national flags to local fishermen |
Since 2016, the initiative to present national flags to fishermen has become a regular activity, supported by military youths in collaboration with organizations, businesses, schools... Youths visited each locality to call on financial support to provide more flags to fishermen. The national flags are present everywhere, contributing to encouraging fishermen at sea.
Fisherman Tran Van Quang from Nghi Tan ward, Vinh city said that receiving national flag from the soldiers, he felt deeply moved, grateful, and more confident when operating at sea. For each fisherman, the national flag is a sacred symbol of the Fatherland, reminding them that every voyage is not just about making a living but also about safeguarding the national sovereignty over sea and islands.
In addition to distributing national flags, the program has also provided hundreds of gifts to disadvantaged fishermen, contributing to encouraging them to overcome difficulties while operating at sea. Each month, participating units contribute between 100 to 400 flags, and since 2016, nearly 44,800 flags have been handed over to fishermen, cost totally VND 900 million. Moreover, 569 gifts, worth over VND 1 billion, have been presented to needy families.
In the time ahead, the Nghe An provincial Military Command will continue to mobilize support from organizations, businesses, individuals, and sponsors to present national flags and gifts to needy fishermen. These efforts not only encourage fishermen but also help them overcome difficulties so as to safeguard the national sovereignty over sea and islands.
