Before the final round, an online contest took place from September 30 to October 5, attracting the participation of 2,791 students. Of these, 100 outstanding students advanced to the final round.

In his opening remarks, Senior Colonel Hoang Ngoc Thien, Political Commissar of Flotilla 32, stated that the contest was a coordinated effort between the Standing Committees of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee and the Vietnam Coast Guard Party Committee under the “Coast guard accompanying fishermen” program. The contest aimed to raise students' awareness of Vietnam’s sea and islands, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) 1982, Vietnam's Law of the Sea, the Vietnam Coast Guard Law, and regulations on preventing illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

The final round featured a direct multiple-choice format, with participants given 10 seconds to answer each question. The 100 finalists participated in sections titled "Setting Sail," "Riding the Waves," and "Reaching Shore." The top 10 competitors then competed in the "Marking Sovereignty" segment to determine the winners. The organizing panel awarded one first, two second, three third, and four consolation prizes. There were also special questions for the audience, with attractive gifts for the winners.

Le Minh Trung, Head of the Education and Training Department of Khanh Vinh District, expressed, “The contest was exciting and attracted a large crowd. We hope to see more meaningful competitions like this in the future to help educate students about the traditions, history, and culture of our homeland, fostering patriotism and love for the nation’s sea and islands.”

As part of the event, leaders of Flotilla 32 and the Mass Mobilization Board of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee presented 20 bicycles and 60 scholarships (each worth VND 1 million) to disadvantaged students in Khanh Vinh District.
