Writing contest on tobacco harms to be launched
PANO – The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has issued a plan on launching a writing contest on the harms of tobacco and the law on prevention and control of tobacco harms.
The contest is one of the activities to mark the World No Tobacco Day, which falls on May 31, and strengthen the dissemination of tobacco harms and benefits of smoking cessation and a smoke-free living environment.

It is also to popularize policies and laws on prevention and control of tobacco harms and on banning tobacco advertising and promotion for people, especially those working in the fields of culture, sports, and tourism.
Through the contest, organizing panel also expect to promote the role of cadres, public servants, and people in supervising the implementation of the law on prevention and control of tobacco harms and call on the public to quit smoking habit.
The contest on tobacco harms is eligible to Vietnamese cadres, public servants, people, and students majoring in culture, sports and tourism as well as members of domestic or foreign organizations in Vietnam.
Participants are encouraged to focus on the harms of tobacco, regulations on prevention and control of tobacco harms, the implementation of those regulations, measures to raise the effectiveness of tobacco prevention and control.
The launch of the contest is scheduled to take place this month, and the organizing panel will receive entries from March to June. The awarding ceremony is scheduled to be held in the third quarter of this year.
