According to the provincial steering committee for eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, this marks the full completion of the housing support program, which began just over a year ago.

Lam Van Man, Secretary of the Soc Trang Party’s Committee and head of the provincial steering committee, said local authorities acted swiftly following central government directives, mobilizing resources and political will across all levels. Though the initial target was 8,400 houses, an additional 500 were later added to the list, with funding still secured on time.

Tran Van Lau, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, noted that priority was given to families of revolution contributors and relatives of fallen soldiers. By the end of April, all 916 homes for these families had been completed, including 419 newly built and 497 repaired.

Support also covered about 8,000 homes for poor, near-poor, and ethnic households, as well as assistance for families who had previously received housing support but remained in need.

The total funding mobilized from central, local, private, and community sources reached 463.6 billion VND (18.26 million USD). Local communities contributed approximately 42,680 days of volunteer labor.
