Simple, but noble exemplary people to be honored
PANO – The awarding ceremony of the “Simple, but noble exemplary people” writing contest and an artistic program, themed “Forever follow Uncle Ho’s example” will be held on June 7 at the Hanoi Opera House and broadcast live on Vietnam Television, announced the organizers at a press conference on May 30.

Launched last year, the 10th edition of the contest attracted the participation of reporters and collaborators across the country with 150 articles honoring cadres, Party members, and people who had made great contributions to the nation and the community and served as a source of encouragement for other people to do good things. According to the organizers, 21 authors will be honored at the awarding ceremony.
Addressing the press meeting, Major General Pham Van Huan, Editor-in-Chief of the People’s Army Newspaper, the main organizer of the contest, said that the gala night aims to honor outstanding groups and people who have been active in studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s example and wholeheartedly contributed to the nation. Together with artistic performances praising the Party, Uncle Ho, nation, and heroic Army, audiences will have a chance to meet and exchange with exemplary people and watch documentaries about them.
Launched for the first time in April, 2008, the contest has now received thousands of articles. Entries which published on the newspaper have contributed to popularizing outstanding figures in implementing the Politburo’s resolution on promoting studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morals, and lifestyle.
Senior Colonel Dau Xuan Luan, Director of the People's Army Publishing House said that the unit will publish a book with 33 articles of the 10th edition.
At the press meeting, organizers launched the 11th edition of the contest (2019-2020) under the new title “Following Uncle Ho’s example.” All Vietnamese citizens are encouraged to write articles about outstanding groups and individuals with great contributions to the nation and in studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s example. Entries should be sent to the organizers from June 2019 to February, 2020.
