PM Phuc spoke highly of Vinacomin and Ha Lam comapny's efforts to improve the life and incomes of their workers.

On the occasion of the Workers' Month (May), he extended his best regards to nearly 120,000 coal mine workers across the country, and affirmed that the Party and State always pay special attention to the working class in general and coal miners in particular by continuously improving policies and their living standards.

He emphasized the importance of ensuring labor safety and protecting the environment in coal mining areas, reducing environmental pollution during the process of coal mining and transportation.

PM Phuc asked Vinacomin to build more houses for workers as the current number of accommodations for them remains limited.

The government leader took this occasion to present 200 gift packages to disadvantaged workers of the Ha Lam company.

According to a Vinacomin report, the total number of workers of the group after restructuring reduced 20 percent to 96,500 over the past five years.

Revenue from coal production accounts for 58 percent of the group’s total. Vinacomin operates in 42 provinces and cities across the country, mainly in Quang Ninh, Cao Bang, Lao Cai, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Thai Binh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Lam Dong, and Dak Nong.

In the first five months of 2020, the group grossed over VND 51.31 trillion (USD 2.2 billion ) in revenue, a year-on-year decline of 5 percent, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
