Coast Guard Region 2 holds “I love national sea and islands” in Thua Thien Hue
PANO - The Coast Guard Region 2 Command, in coordination with the Thua Thien Hue provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission, organized the “I love national sea and islands” contest at Vinh Thanh Secondary School in Phu Vang district, Thua Thien Hue province on October 11.
The event saw the participation of 60 outstanding students representing over 3,000 students from Vinh Thanh, Vinh Xuan, and An Bang - Vinh An Secondary Schools in Phu Vang district.

During four parts, contestants showed their knowledge about national sea and islands, sovereignty markers, the Vietnam Law of the Sea in 2012, the Law on the Vietnam Coast Guard, missions and tradition of the coast guard force.
According to a representative of the Coast Guard Region 2 Command, the contest was to continue educating students about the traditions of the nation and raising awareness among teachers and students of the country's sea and islands, the relevant documents of the Party and State concerning maritime sovereignty, and the proud traditions of the Vietnam People's Army, the heroic Vietnam coast guard force, and the resilient history of Phu Vang in the national liberation struggle and in socio-economic development.

At the end of the contest, the organizing panel presented one first, one second, and one third prizes to outstanding students. Thirty out of 200 works from a drawing contest held earlier as part of the event were also awarded.

On this occasion, the Coast Guard Region 2 Command awarded 60 scholarships, worth VND 1 million each, and 15 bicycles to needy students with outstanding academic results from the three secondary schools.
