Phan Dien, former Politburo member, former standing member of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Central Committee’s Secretariat, Chairman of the Management Council of the Fund, chaired the conference, which was attended by Lieutenant General Le Phuc Nguyen, former Editor-in-Chief of the People’s Army Newspaper and Permanent Deputy-Chairman of the Management Council of the Fund.

The program aims to raise awareness of active prevention of natural disaster influences and reduction of damages caused by natural disasters, especially on children.

Moreover, the program also urges organizations and individuals to cooperate in supporting children to prevent undue effects of natural disasters. It also honors domestic and international organizations and individuals that have supported the Fund.

The program will take place at 19:00 on May 18 at the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Cultural House and be broadcast live on VTV9 channel of the Vietnam Television.

The Fund became officially operational in 2009 and, so far, it has raised VND 260 billion to assist Central coastal provinces and other localities in the country to build 90 community structures to prevent natural disasters, support 58 kindergartens and primary schools which were damaged by storms and floods, plant 106 hectares of mangrove, organize 85 shock rescue teams in different localities, build 77 automatic rain-gauge stations and provide relief to 11,500 households seriously influenced by natural disasters.
