Preparation for 80th anniversary of August Revolution and National Day sped up
PANO – The Central Steering Committee for the Celebration of Major Holidays and Important Historical Events of the Country in the 2023–2025 period held a meeting on May 29 in Hanoi to review the organization of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, and to launch activities in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2).
Tran Cam Tu, permanent member of the Party Central Committee (PCC)'s Secretariat and head of the Central Steering Committee; and Nguyen Trong Nghia, head of the PCC’s Commission for Information and Education, co-chaired the event.
Regarding the organization of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, the Steering Committee assessed that the commemorative activities were successfully conducted, creating widespread influence across the entire Party and people, strongly arousing the spirit of patriotism and the aspiration to contribute to national development, making the event a significant political activity within society.
For the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, central ministries, agencies, and Hanoi city are actively implementing and finalizing plans and projects for commemorative activities, and preparing necessary conditions to ensure the timely and effective organization of events.
In his remarks, Tran Cam Tu commended the responsibility and thorough preparations of localities, ministries, and sectors in developing proposals and plans. He requested the PCC’s Commission for Information and Education to finalize the overall project plan by mid-June; coordinate with relevant agencies and units to organize exhibitions showcasing achievements gained over 80 years of national building and 40 years of doi moi (renovation); and conduct communication activities for the commemoration, among other tasks.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of National Defense was tasked with issuing the plan for the parade and coordinating with the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in assigning responsibilities, preparing detailed parade scripts, and organizing thorough rehearsals.
