VNDPKO’s Deputy Director Senior Colonel Mac Duc Trong said the event not only spread patriotism and national pride and a sense of responsibility to the international community, but also offered an open dialogue between peacekeeping personnel and young overseas Vietnamese worldwide. Through the delegates, the image of a pro-active and responsible Vietnam in international peacekeeping missions is promoted globally.

Speaking at the event, SCOV’s Deputy Chairwoman Ngo Thi Thanh Mai emphasized that meeting with Vietnamese peacekeepers helped young people deeply appreciate the sacred value of independence and freedom, and the unsung sacrifices made to protect peace for humanity.

The exchange with personnel of the VNDPKO and Engineering Company Rotation 4 was a highlight of the Vietnam Summer Camp 2025 program. Mai hoped that through programs like the Vietnam Summer Camp, young overseas Vietnamese would not only have deeper understanding of their roots but also be inspired to become “ambassadors of peace”  to spread Vietnam’s message of humanity, solidarity, and cooperation to the world.

During the exchange, participants learned about Vietnam’s 11-year journey engaging in U.N. peacekeeping missions, interacted with officers who worked at U.N. Missions in Africa, and gained insight into the challenges, dedication, and sacrifices, and qualities of Vietnamese blue-berets.

Dinh Tam Dan from Ukraine shared her dream of one day joining U.N. peacekeeping forces and her hope to gain more experience and further study to make that dream come true.
