War-left bomb moved for detonation in Quang Tri province
PANO – Engineers from the Quang Tri provincial Military Command successfully deactivated and removed a huge bomb for detonation on April 7.
Earlier, construction workers found the bomb while digging up the ground for the construction of an office building of Cua Tung High School in Vinh Linh commune, Quang Tri.
Upon receiving the information, the command sent its troops, in coordination with other relevant forces, to blockade the site.

The bomb’s location was close to a market and residential area, posing a high risk to local people.
According to the force, the bomb, around 240kg in weight, 1.8m in length and 0.3m in diameter, with 80kg trinitrotoluene inside, had been dropped by the US Air Force during the war in Vietnam.
They then deactivated and removed the bomb to a safer place for detonation.
