Unexploded ordnance disposed of in Lai Chau province

Engineering troops neutralize a mortar shell.

Earlier, the 281 Dao San Border Post in Phong Tho district, Lai Chau province, discovered several mortar shells about 60cm below the ground, still with their fuses intact. Receiving the information, the Lai Chau provincial Military Command reported to local authorities and instructed the engineering force to collect totally 20 mortar shells. They were identified as 82mm mortar shells, left from the fighting to protect the Northern border.

After collecting the ordnance, the engineering force of the Lai Chau provincial Military Command successfully carried out the detonation following safety regulations.

UXO gathered for detonation

Reportedly, over the past time, the engineering force of the Lai Chau provincial Military Command have received numerous reports and safely disposed of various types of UXO with absolute safety.
