Military Region 4 and Nghe An were selected to host the nationwide launch of the campaign and to pilot the collection, handover, and digitization of information on samples from martyrs’ remains at martyrs’ cemeteries, with lessons learned for nationwide implementation. They have also focused on their assigned tasks, particularly sample collection and handover as well as the search for and collection of martyrs’ remains.
To date, Military Region 4 and Nghe An have basically remained on schedule, with sample collection reaching more than 94 percent of the target. The Nghe An provincial Steering Committee 515 has completed its sample collection task four months ahead of the deadline set by the National Steering Committee 515.

During the inspection, Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Van Gau commended the work of leading, directing, and implementing the campaign carried out by the Military Region 4 and Nghe An provincial Steering Committees 515.
For the coming period, he asked the two steering committees to continue implementing the resolute guidance of the Party and State leaders, the Ministry of National Defense, and National Steering Committee 515. Search and collection efforts should be tailored to the characteristics of each area.
He also called for intensified efforts in domestic areas, particularly Quang Tri province, Hue City, and locations for which information has been provided by the Steering Committee Office. Additional information should be collected from historical witnesses, organizations, and relevant individuals, especially forces from the other side taking part in the war. Workshops and verification should be conducted to assess information and reach conclusions. Once reliable evidence is established, plans should be promptly developed, and forces should be organized to search for and collect martyrs’ remains in accordance with regulations.

The defense leader also called for a shift from “waiting for information” to “actively seeking information” at the grassroots level. Search and collection forces should be organized based on available information rather than deployed broadly, following the principle that “search and collection teams serve as the core, while localities provide support.” The search and collection of martyrs’ remains and the identification of their remains should be conducted simultaneously.
