The two sides sign the memorandum of understanding.

At the talks, the two specialized committees affirmed that the search, collection and repatriation of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors who died in Cambodia during various periods of war in the 2026-2027 dry season is of particular importance, especially at a time when the Vietnamese Government is stepping up the 500-day campaign to accelerate the search, collection and identification of martyrs’ remains. In this effort, Dak Lak province is mobilizing its whole political system, with Search and Collection Team K51 under the provincial Military Command serving as the core force.

The Cambodian side expressed strong support for the effort, saying that it is also a gesture of gratitude and a responsibility of Mondulkiri province and Cambodia to express their appreciation for and remembrance of the contribution and sacrifices made by Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors during the wars to help the country revive and recover. The authority, military and people of the province pledged to provide wholehearted and fraternal support and favorable conditions for Team K51 to access more sources of information and deploy teams to local areas to search for and collect martyrs’ remains. They also expressed their hope that the remains of Vietnamese martyrs would soon be repatriated to homeland.

Also at the talks, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on the search, collection and repatriation of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors who died in Cambodia, for the 2026-2027 dry season. On this occasion, the Dak Lak provincial Specialized Committee handed over 20,000 USD in financial assistance from the Vietnamese Government to the Mondulkiri Specialized Committee for 2026.
