Seventeen sets of martyrs’ remains found in Quang Nam
PANO – Troops of the Phuoc Son District Military Command has just found a mass grave with 17 sets of martyrs’ remains at Kham Duc Airport in Phuoc Son district, Quang Nam province, said Colonel Phan Anh Hai, Political Commissar of the military command on June 4.

The remains were identified to be commandos of Battalion 404 of Military Region 5, who sacrificed themselves during an attack on a U.S. military base at Kham Duc Airport on August 5, 1970.
Troops of the Phuoc Son District Military Command also found belongings of the fallen soldiers.
The sets of martyrs’ remains will be reburied at the War Cemetery of Phuoc Son District.
The military base at Kham Duc Airport was built by the U.S. armed forces in 1960. During the attack on the base 50 years ago, 17 commandos died.
