Quang Ninh province pays gratitude to war veterans
PANO - On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the first victory of the Vietnam People’s Navy (August 2 and 5, 1964 - 2024), on August 3, a delegation of the Quang Ninh provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, Fatherland Front Committee, and Military Command visited and presented gifts to war veterans who directly joined the naval force’s first battle.
The delegation was led by Commanding Officer of the Quang Ninh provincial Military Command Senior Colonel Khuc Thanh Du.

Particularly, delegates visited and presented gifts to veterans Do Ca Tung in Cam Pha city, Pham Tien Thoi in Ha Long city, and Nguyen Huu Ban, Nguyen Thai Phu, Hoang Van Minh, Nguyen Duc Hop, and Pham Tru in Quang Yen town. All of them directly participated in the battle and won glorious victory on August 2 and 5, 1964. This victory marked the first major triumph of the North Vietnamese military and people in resisting U.S. aerial and naval attacks.

While visiting the historical witnesses’ families, delegates handed over gifts from the provincial Party Committee, Military Command, and local Party Committee and authorities to veterans. They inquired after and expressed their deep gratitude to the contribution and sacrifices of war veterans and national contributors to the resistance war for national liberation and reunification, for peace, independence, an freedom of the Fatherland.

This was part of the activities of the Quang Ninh provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, Fatherland Front Committee, and Military Command to mark the 60th anniversary of the Navy's first victory. It aimed to pay gratitude to heroic martyrs and national contributors and educate people about the historical values of the victory to the revolutionary cause of the Vietnamese people.
