This tradition was underlined by Vice State President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh at a working session with the Naval Region 2 Command, on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the first victory of the Vietnam People’s Navy (August 2 and 5, 1964 - 2019), on August 1 in Vung Tau city, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
At the meeting, Political Commissar of the Vietnam People’s Navy, Rear Admiral Pham Van Vung briefed the delegation on the service’s task performance over the past time.
According to him, the whole service has always been steadfast in and absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, Party, and people; naval troops have had firm political stance, overcome all difficulties and performed well their assigned tasks.

In addition, they have also mastered new military weapons and equipment, firmly safeguarded national sovereignty over seas and islands and other maritime economic activities, maintained a peaceful and stable environment at sea, participated actively in search and rescue activities, and supported fishermen in fishing offshore.
Hailing the achievements of the Vietnam People’s Navy in general and Naval Region 2 in particular, Vice President Thinh requested them to embrace the Party’s guideline and policies on safeguarding the national sovereignty over seas and islands, continue promoting the Navy’s first victory tradition among troops, and build a revolutionary, regular, elite and modern navy, deserving to be a core force in the cause of safeguarding the country’s maritime sovereignty.
On this occasion, the vice president, together with the National Fund for Vietnamese Children and Hung Thinh Property Group, handed over nearly VND 29 billion to soldiers stationed on the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago and DK1 platforms, and their children.
Thinh also visited Brigade 167, DK1 Battalion (in charge of managing and operating DK1 platforms), and Long Son military base of Naval Region 2.
