Preparation for scientific seminar on Xieng Khouang - Plain of Jars Defensive Campaign reviewed
PANO - The Ministry of National Defense in association with the Nghe An provincial People’s Committee held a conference of the steering committee of the ministerial-level scientific seminar in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Xieng Khouang - Plain of Jars Defensive Campaign (May 21, 1972 - 2022) on April 25.
The seminar will be held in order to clarify the sound leadership and strategic vision of the Politburo, the Central Military Commisssion and the Central Committees of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao Revolutionary People’s Party. In addition, it shows the flexible and creative leadership of the Command of the Plain of Jars Field Front, together with the brave fighting spirit of the Vietnamese and Lao people and troops.

The seminar is expected to help provide experience lessons for the development of the Vietnamese military art, the building of the military, the reinforcement of the national defense cause, and the protection of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. In addition, it will contribute to improving the effectiveness of traditional education and training activities at schools and units in the whole military while promoting national patriotism among troops and people as well as strengthening special solidarity between the two countries of Vietnam and Laos, the two peoples, and the two militaries.
At the conference, the steering committee agreed with the theme of the seminar, which is “50 years of the Xieng Khouang - Plain of Jars Field Defensive Campaign - Victory and Lessons learnt.” The seminar is scheduled to take place in Vinh city, Nghe An province on May 20, 2022.

At the moment, the Vietnam Institute of Military History, the standing organ of the steering committee of the seminar, is collaborating with relevant agencies to prepare for the event.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Defense Minister Sr. Lt. Gen. Le Huy Vinh applauded the efforts of all participating forces in preparation for the seminar. He required the Vietnam Institute of Military History to continue working closely with relevant units and agencies to fulfill tasks such as inviting historical witnesses and representatives from Laos, enhancing dissemination of information aboout the campaign, and so on.
