Naval veterans gather in HCM City
PANO – The traditional liaison board of naval veteran soldiers in Ho Chi Minh City held a get-together to mark 55th anniversary of the first victory of the Vietnam People’s Navy.
At the meeting, about 500 veterans recalled the historic victories on August 2 and 5, 1964, marking the service’s glorious combat tradition.
Rear Admiral Pham Van Quang, Deputy Chief of the service’s Department of Politics, briefed the participants on the service’s task performances over the past time, especially in promoting training quality, popularizing the service’s protection of national sovereignty over the seas and islands, and actively supporting and protecting fishermen at sea.
He also expressed gratitude to contributions of the naval veterans to the service and the national revolutionary cause, and hoped that they would further support the development of the service.
