Sites supported by sufficient evidence will be marked, geolocated, and mapped.

The survey focused on comparing terrain features and verifying sites suspected to contain fallen soldiers’ graves based on information provided by engineer Lam Hong Tien. The information was researched and compiled from declassified U.S. military documents concerning a former mass grave site in the Tram Forest 800 area and the Tam Ngan hamlet area, both formerly part of Kien Giang province.

During the survey, the unit examined traces and terrain features, compared maps, and cross-checked information from local authorities, veterans, and residents who had lived or operated in the area. Sites supported by sufficient evidence will be marked, geolocated, and mapped as a basis for Team K92 of the Political Division under the An Giang Provincial Military Command to continue searching for and recovering the remains of fallen soldiers.

The An Giang Provincial Military Command conducts a field survey, compares terrain features, and verifies locations suspected of containing fallen soldiers’ graves.

The survey also serves as an important preparatory step for a workshop to collect information and determine the locations of fallen soldiers’ graves in Tram Du area. The verification will focus on information related to more than 300 fallen soldiers who died in the area, helping supplement and clarify existing sources and gradually narrow down the search area.

Meanwhile, search and recovery efforts continued at Le Thi Rieng Park in Ho Chi Minh City, where the search and recovery team under the Ho Chi Minh City Military Command recovered another 28 sets of fallen soldiers’ remains and six sets of personal artifacts on August 22.

From June 23 through August 22, a total of 445 sets of fallen soldiers’ remains were recovered at the park, including 412 sets accompanied by artifacts.

On August 22, the forces continued operations at the second search site, processing more than 500 cubic meters of soil while expanding the search area. To support the mission, the Ho Chi Minh City Military Command deployed three excavators, one dump truck, and two 3.5-ton trucks for excavation, soil transportation, and search operations.
