Martyr Linh Quang Giang was born in 1948 in Tien village (now Hung Tien hamlet), Hung An Commune, Bac Quang District, Ha Giang Province. He served in Battalion 6, Nam Tha, and was killed on March 4, 1969, while performing international duties in Sinh Cha Lon village, Muang Sing District, Luang Namtha Province, Laos. After 56 years, through tireless efforts, the search and collection team of Military Region 2 successfully located, identified, and repatriated his remains.
The memorial service was conducted in a solemn atmosphere, reflecting the Vietnamese tradition of “When drinking water, remember its source” and expressing the deep gratitude of the Party, State, military, and people toward those who sacrificed their lives for the cause of national independence and international solidarity.
In his speech at the ceremony, a representative of Ha Giang Province expressed heartfelt gratitude to all heroic martyrs and affirmed that the Fatherland and people will forever remember the great sacrifices of the war martyrs, who wrote brilliant pages of history in the spirit of Vietnam–Laos solidarity.

During the burial ceremony for martyr Linh Quang Giang |
During the burial ceremony for martyr Linh Quang Giang, the remains were accompanied by his personal belongings, including a hammock, buttons, military clothing, a mirror, and notably a tightly sealed vial of penicillin containing a piece of paper with his full name and hometown, an essential clue in identifying the martyr.
His return is a symbol of the special Vietnam–Laos solidarity and a testament to the sacrifices made by generations of Uncle Ho’s soldiers for the noble cause of international service. The remains were laid to rest at the Vi Xuyen National War Cemetery.
