The talks were co-chaired by Dau Thanh Tung, Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee and Head of Steering Committee 515, and Colonel Phansy Sonmixay, former Political Commissar of the Houaphanh Provincial Military Command and Head of the Special Working Group.

Before the talks, the two delegations offered incense and flowers in tribute to 21 fallen soldiers, whose remains were recovered by the Search and Collection Team of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Military Command during the 2024-2025 dry season.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed their cooperation in searching for and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors who died in Laos. They acknowledged the achievements in the 2024-2025 dry season and agreed to strengthen collaboration for the upcoming 2025-2026 dry season

According to reports, during the 2024-2025 dry season, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Military Command’s Search and Collection Team overcame numerous hardships to recover and repatriate 21 sets of remains, all of which are currently unidentified. This result exceeded the target set for the season.
In the upcoming season, both sides will enhance coordination, intensify information dissemination, and call for public participation in providing information regarding potential grave sites of fallen soldiers.

They also agreed to continue regular exchanges to evaluate progress, share lessons learned, and promptly commend individuals and collectives for outstanding performance. Furthermore, the parties plan to propose measures to accelerate search efforts and improve communication strategies to gather more valuable information.
At the event, the Houaphanh Provincial authorities and Military Command presented certificates of merit to Vietnamese individuals and collectives in recognition of their contributions to the search and collection mission.
