The bomb, about 160cm in length and nearly 30cm in diameter, was discovered along the Luoc River in Thien Phien commune, Tien Lu district, Hung Yen province by some local people.
Reportedly, the 500-pound bomb remained intact and was highly dangerous.
When informed about the bomb, militiamen in the commune rushed to the scene to examine and seal off the site in case of an explosion.
Later, engineers from the Hung Yen provincial Military Command moved the bomb to a safe site to deactivate it in line with regulations.
