Huge bomb deactivated in Bac Kan province
PANO -The Bac Kan provincial Military Command successfully detonated a huge war-left bomb on August 4.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Bui Trong Manh, Head of the Engineering Department of the Command, the bomb was 50cm in diameter, 1.25m in length and 500kg in weight.
The bomb was dropped by US troops during the US destructive war against Northern Vietnam. During the war, Bac Kan was among the fiercest battlefields.

The bomb was found on July 21 in Na Sang village, Vi Huong commune, Bach Thong district by workers of Bac Kan Transportation Building and Management Joint Stock Company while constructing a dyke in the province.
Upon receiving the news, the Command promptly sent troops to the scene to transport the bomb to a safe area for detonation.
