During the event, delegates recalled heroic history and traditions of the regiment over the past 77 years.

Reportedly, on August 23, 1945, under a decision of Quang Tri province’s authorities, the Liberation Company (then Thien Thuat Company) was established, becoming the first regular unit of the province. It was the predecessor of Region 95 under Military Region 5’s Division 2.

During the national resistance wars against foreign invaders, under the direct leadership of the Party, Central Military Commission, Ministry of National Defense, together with the whole country, the unit joined thousands of battles in different theaters and achieved  numerous resounding feats, contributing to the cause of national liberation and unification.

With its outstanding efforts and contributions, the regiment was honored with the title of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces twice and many other noble orders. Besides, seven collectives and three individuals of the regiment also received the title of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces.

Earlier, on August 20, the war veterans offered incense and flowers in tribute to fallen soldiers at the war cemetery in Mang Yang district (Gia Lai province) and held a requiem for them.
