During the event, the participating veterans recalled the glorious history of their unit. Established in 1949, Regiment 174 (Cao-Bac-Lang Regiment) made resounding feats-of-arms in the two national resistance wars against the French colonialists and the U.S. imperialists, as well as in the Southwestern border protection war and performing international duties. For these achievements, the regiment has been awarded the title “Hero of the People's Armed Forces” twice.

In peacetime, veterans of Regiment 174 gather on every foundation day to reminisce about the past, vowing to uphold Uncle Ho’s soldiers’ qualities. In recent years, the Liaison Board of Veterans of Regiment 174 in Ho Chi Minh City has conducted many practical activities to take care of the material and spiritual life of former comrades.
