At the reception at the National Funeral Hall, President Lam said General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was an outstanding leader of the Vietnamese people, who was tireless in his effort to serve the country.

President To Lam receives Minister of War Veterans and Rights Holders of Angeria Laid Rebiga in Hanoi on July 25.

He said he was moved when receiving a letter of condolences from his Algerian counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

Thanking the Algerian delegation for attending the funeral, President To Lam emphasized that Vietnam will always respect and remember the precious feelings of the Government and people of Algeria.

The President stated that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong left many important legacies, including in the field of foreign affairs, while affirming that Vietnam consistently pursues the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, valuing friendship and cooperation with traditional countries in Africa, especially Algeria.

He asked the Minister convey his invitation to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time.

Minister Rebigua, for his part, conveyed a letter of condolences from Algerian President Abdelmadjib Tebboune to President To Lam, saying that the Government and people of Algeria are extremely saddened by the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong - an eminent leader of the Vietnamese people, who wholeheartedly served and contributed to the Vietnamese Fatherland in different positions.

The Government and people of Algeria value traditional friendship and cooperation with Vietnam, the Minister stated, affirming that he will do his utmost to boost bilateral relations in all aspects.
