Thirty four members of the team stood before the national flag, heard the declaration of the foundation of the team read by Vo Nguyen Giap, and solemnly took oath of the ten honorable vows. The soldiers later had a meal without salt as a promise to stand side-by-side with each other despite numerous hardships and challenges.

Since its birthday, the Vietnam People’s Army has had its name changed for many times. However, the best name for the Vietnamese military is Uncle Ho’s soldiers.

In the history of the nation, the images of the revolutionary soldiers are always closely attached to the upheavals of the country. They made the most glorious historical milestones in the national salvation, reunification, construction and defense cause. In that cause, the close ties between the military and the Party, the military and the people were so inevitable that nothing could change.

Under the leadership of the Party, the military, together with the heroic people, made the August Revolution in 1945, establishing the first people’s democratic state in Southeast Asia, achieved miracles in the resistance wars against the French colonialists and the U.S. imperialists with the resounding Dien Bien Phu victory that shook the five continents and the great victory in Spring 1975 as highlights.

We cannot help but mention the military’s arduous fight to defend the national border, sea and islands, their international missions to help friendly countries escape from the genocidal regime, regain independence and freedom and voluntary participation in the United Nations peacekeeping force. No matter where they are or what they do, Uncle Ho's soldiers still shine and contribute to creating cultural values of the nation.

A new spring has come. The people’s hearts are in harmony with the spring when the country has an ever-strong position. Weathering the most difficulties, the Vietnamese people desire to rise high and fly far. Under the leadership of the Party, led by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the Party and State of Vietnam advocate building and developing “bamboo diplomacy” based on national diplomatic identity and President Ho Chi Minh's diplomatic thought.

Actually, Vietnam now has good relations with many partners, be they neighbors, regions or major powers. It is believed that Vietnam's relations with important partners will further develop. The country will conduct multilateral diplomacy and bilateral diplomacy at the same time while focusing on economic diplomacy and promote defense diplomacy to safeguard the nation early and from afar by peaceful means.

Last year, despite numerous post-COVID-19 disadvantages, Vietnam’s GDP still expanded by 5.05 percent against the previous year, ranking the first in Southeast Asia. Generally, the macro-economy of the country was kept stable; inflation was well controlled; and other major balances of the economy were maintained.

The military is entering its 80. Born from the people and working for the people, the military has been developing strongly over the past eight decades and is striving to become an elite, strong and modernized military. To this end, the short- and long-term requirements for the military are to thoroughly grasp new forms of warfare, study and practice war strategies and effective combat tactics in the context of the hi-tech warfare.

It is believed that the Vietnam People’s Army will be more elite and modern, capable of defending the nation.
