Defense ministry reviews settlement of post-war UXO and toxic chemical consequences
PANO – The National Steering Committee on the Settlement of Post-war Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) and Toxic Chemical Consequences (Steering Committee 701 in short) held a meeting with relevant agencies on July 20 to review its task performance.
The event was chaired by Sen. Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien, head of the national steering committee.
Reportedly, the settlement of post-war UXO and toxic chemical consequences has gained remarkable achievements since 2016, contributing to minimizing the bad impacts on the environment and people.

The permanent office of Steering Committee 701 has collaborated with ministries, sectors and localities to mobilize international sponsors for the work while taking care of post-war UXO and toxic chemical victims.
Speaking at the meeting, General Chien applauded the achievements of the steering committee over the past time, and stressed that the unit should continue completing its relevant documents and updating pertinent data.
He asked them to enhance international cooperation and draw foreign investment to assist in the settlement of post-war UXO and toxic chemical consequences while accelerating information dissemination on the work.
