Over the past five years, as the Permanent Agency of Steering Committee 701, the Ministry of National Defense worked closely with other related ministries and departments to give recommendations to the Party and the State on issuing directives on enhancing the settlement of post-war UXO and toxic chemical consequences and on promoting synergy in carrying out assignments.

To date, the two dioxin hotspots of Da Nang airport and Phu Cat airport, have been decontaminated. The dioxin detoxification at Bien Hoa airbase (Dong Nai province) and A So airport (Thua Thien - Hue province) is underway. Attentively, various projects have been implemented to support those badly affected by toxic chemical legacy of the war.

Addressing the event, General Vinh urged Steering Committee 701 to boost the implementation of this important and significant work, focusing on ensuring policies for war veterans and their children who were exposed to toxic chemicals, domestically and internationally raising funds for the work, and carrying out projects related to dioxin treatment and Agent Orange/Dioxin victims.

The committee was also asked to further study legal and scientific grounds and real situations to convincingly fight for Agent Orange/Dioxin victims’ interests.
