Defense leader encourages Search and Collection Team 584
PANO - On November 11, a delegation from the Vietnamese Government’s Specialized Committee, led by Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau, carried out a field survey in Lao Savannakhet province, during which Gen. Gau presented gifts to Search and Collection Team 584 of the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command on duty there.

During the trip, the Vietnamese delegation surveyed the Vietnam - Laos Combat Alliance Monument in Phin district. Later, they offered incense in tribute to fallen heroes at the Memorial House of Team 584 in Phalansay district.
Inspecting Team 584’s task performance, Gen. Gau heard a report on the team’s progress in searching for and repatriating remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors who sacrificed their lives in Savannakhet province. The defense leader commended the team’s solidarity, determination, and efforts to overcome hardships and excellently fulfill their mission.
He emphasized that the search and repatriation of martyrs’ remains is a special and profoundly humanitarian mission that reflects the Vietnamese tradition of “When drinking water, remember its source” and “gratitude-paying.” This work is not only a sacred political responsibility but also an expression of deep gratitude and respect toward the heroic martyrs who fought and sacrificed their lives for national independence and noble international missions.

Gen. Gau urged Team 584 to continue promoting their sense of responsibility, closely coordinate with local Party committee, authorities, people, and armed forces, and strive to successfully accomplish their mission during the 2025-2026 dry season.
