PANO - Various local organizations and army units have organized get-togethers and artistic programs to celebrate the 68th founding anniversary of Vietnam People’s Army and 40th anniversary of the “Hanoi-Dien Bien Phu in the Air” victory.

Accordingly, the first of the 50-episode serial, titled “The Centre of the Storm”, has been completed by Hai Phong Television Fafilm and Tinh Hoa Vietnam Communication Company.

As a product of director Van Luong and scriptwriter Nguyen Khac Phuc, this film features the most brilliant points in the history of Hai Phong City and its people from the late 1960s to the great victory in Spring 1975. During this period, together with the capital Hanoi, Hai Phong crushed the US Linebacker II Operation and witnessed the first non-numbered ships carrying weapons for the South.

The second part of this serial, consisting of 30 episodes and depicting Hanoi in 1976-2000, will be filmed soon.

The film will be screened in mid-May 2013.

* Meanwhile, an exchange between veterans and students from Hanoi Cultural University took place in a warm atmosphere. Participants recalled their magnanimous time, including the glorious moments of the “Hanoi-Dien Bien Phu in the Air” victory in late December 1972, instilling the spirit of resilient fighting for the nation among local people under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

* Similarly, the Department of Electronic Warfare under the General Staff organized a get-together for the department’s generations to celebrate the 68th founding anniversary of Vietnam People’s Army and 40th anniversary of the “Hanoi-Dien Bien Phu in the Air” Victory. The department’s technicians had contributed to our victory over US air raids in December 1972.

On this occasion, the department handed over a house of gratitude to Martyr’s Mother Nguyen Thi Thuyen in Dien Tien commune, Dien Ban district, Quang Nam Province.

* To help the staff and cadets learn more about the tradition of our army and Air Defence and Air Force troops, as well as the historical victory of “Hanoi-Dien Bien Phu in the Air”, the Academies of Border Guards and Air Defence and Air Force hosted an artistic exchange on the victory with the participation of nearly 3,000 people.

The exchange also helped raise participants’ responsibility in working, studying and practising, and encouraged them to do their utmost to become eminent officers and cadres.

* These days, the border guards of Quang Binh Province are accomplishing their missions in 2012. They have also accelerated their fight against crime and are defending national sovereignty at borders, as well as boosting their relationship with local authorities and people.

* On December 22nd, the Army and People Medical Hospital in Nha Trang City was officially renamed as December 22nd Hospital.

* In the emulation drive to mark the 40th anniversary of the “Hanoi-Dien Bien Phu in the Air” victory, Border Guards of Nam Dinh Province have attained a number of achievements and broken some firecracker transporting cases.
