During the three-day trip, the mission is going to carry out a number of activities. They plan to visit troops and people in Tho Chu Island area, pay tribute to and commemorate heroic martyrs and civilians who rest in peace in the Southwestern waters and continental shelf areas of the Fatherland. They will conduct patrols, inspections, and information dissemination sessions to raise local people and fishermen’s awareness of maritime law enforcement, particularly the prevention of illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

In his speech before the start of the voyage, Gen. Dung emphasized the meaning of the trip. He expressed his hope that it would enable Party committees and authorities of participating localities to directly experience the sea and island areas under their administrative responsibility.

This would help enhance their understanding of the political security, social order and safety, and maritime economic potential, so that they would give suggestions to the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense to issue suitable policies and develop right solutions to safeguard national sovereignty, ensuring maritime security and order, and sustainable development of maritime economy. Most importantly, it contributes to effectively combating IUU fishing violations, supporting the prompt removal of the European Commission’s yellow card warning on Vietnam’s seafood industry.
