During the visit to Hon Me Island in Thanh Hoa Province, the delegation presented gifts to units stationed on the island. Ms. Bui Mai Hoa, Head of the Ninh Binh Provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Information and Education and Mass Mobilization, shared: “This is my first visit to the island, and I have come to understand its strategic importance. Officers and soldiers must carry out their duties diligently and train regularly under harsh conditions to firmly safeguard our national sovereignty over the seas and islands. Though modest, these gifts from the Ninh Binh delegation represent sincere encouragement for the personnel on Hon Me Island to overcome hardships and fulfill their missions.”

In the island districts of Bach Long Vi (Hai Phong city) and Co To (Quang Ninh province), the delegation paid tribute at local war cemeteries and visited the statue of President Ho Chi Minh on Co To Island. Over 200 gift packages were distributed to local agencies, military units, households, and disadvantaged students. Additionally, the delegation organized legal awareness sessions and presented national flags and gifts to local fishermen.
Bach Long Vi and Co To Islands hold strategic importance for national defense, security, and maritime economic development in the Gulf of Tonkin. In recent years, local Party committees, authorities, armed forces, and residents have worked together to effectively integrate economic development with national defense and security. Infrastructure projects on the islands have brought practical socio-economic benefits while aligning with defense and security objectives, contributing to the firm establishment of these frontline outposts.

Major General Tran Van Hau praised the active involvement of the delegates and the strong support from local authorities, units, and businesses throughout the mission. He also commended the crew of Ship 8004 for ensuring the mission’s success and absolute safety.
He emphasized that the mission’s success has further strengthened the solidarity and cooperation between the Vietnam Coast Guard, and Coast Guard Region 1 in particular, and the Party committees, authorities, and people of coastal localities.

As part of the mission, Major General Tran Van Hau also briefed delegates on the functions and duties of the Vietnam Coast Guard. He noted that starting in 2025, the Coast Guard Region Commands will coordinate with provinces and cities to organize joint field missions involving local leaders and armed forces to assess the situation in coastal and island areas. This was the second Gulf of Tonkin survey conducted this year by the Coast Guard Region 1 Command. The activity holds practical significance in enhancing coordination with localities in mass mobilization efforts, fostering a shared sense of responsibility among officials and businesses in building and firmly protecting the country’s maritime sovereignty.
