Vinh Long youths act for national sea and islands
PANO - Regiment 152 of Military Region 9 and the Vinh Long provincial Youth Union Organization held a three-day program entitled “Vinh Long youths for national sea and islands 2024” in Tho Chu island commune, Kien Giang province’s Phu Quoc city that ended on March 17.
During the event, the two units conducted a wide range of practical activities, such as an incense offering in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh, and fallen troops and Khmer people who were killed by the Khmer Rouge at Tho Chau Temple; a meeting disseminating information about national sovereignty over sea and islands and land border in the new situation; the signing of a coordination program between Regiment 152 and the Vinh Long provincial Youth Union Organization in the 2024-2027 period.

In addition, the units cleaned beaches, collected waste in coastal areas, organized sport and artistic exchanges, presented gifts to armed forces stationed on Tho Chu Island, granted 20 scholarships worth VND 1 million each to troops’ children. They also handed over 20 breeding cows and sows, youth structures, and national flags to locals, as well as letters from Vinh Long students to troops stationed on the island.
The “Vinh Long youths for national sea and islands” program demonstrated the spirit and sense of responsibility of youths towards national sea and islands, contributed to the campaign “Sentiments towards border areas and islands,” and raised awareness of youths of the strategic position and importance of sea and islands in national construction and safeguarding cause. It also showed the deep feelings of Vinh Long province’s Party Committee, authorities and people for officers and soldiers on duties on Tho Chau Island which is located in the Southwestern region of the country.
