Raising youths’ awareness and responsibility

At the A Dot - Ta Vang Border Gates, connecting Thua Thien Hue province’s A Luoi district and Lao Sekong province’s Kaleum district, border troops have well prepared for the flag-saluting ceremony at the national landmark No.666. Especially, this ceremony drew the participation of troops from Ta Vang district’s Public Security and Border Protection Company 531 of Sekong province.

During the event, Major Vo Xuan Minh, Political Officer of the Border Post of A Dot Border Gate under the Thua Thien Hue provincial Border Guard Command, held that the program aimed to introduce local youths with national sovereignty as well as the functions and tasks of both sides in managing and protecting the shared borderline. It was also to disseminate information to raise troops’ awareness of their responsibility in protecting and building the shared borderline, thereby contributing to boosting the special solidarity between the two armed forces and peoples.

Grade 11 student Le Cuong from Truong Son High School in A Luoi district, shared that this was his first time to participate in the flag-saluting ceremony at the border landmark. It helped him understand more about the silent contribution of troops of the two armed forces in order to preserve, build the border areas and cultivate the special friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos. He was determined to promote the pioneering role of the youths and make contribution to safeguarding the Fatherland’s borderline and the local socio-economic development.

Border troops educating the youths about national landmark

According to Nguyen Thi Thuy Tien, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Huong Phong commune, A Luoi district, she was really proud of the great contribution of the border troops in protecting national sovereignty in border areas and got to know more about the special friendship and solidarity between the two countries. She underscored that the activity not only bolstered the ties among youths, troops, and border residents but also raised youths’ awareness of their responsibility in the border protection cause.

Youths pioneering in border areas

Senior Captain Nguyen Van Duc, who is in charge of mass mobilization work of the Thua Thien Hue provincial Border Guard Command, noted that youths account for more than 40% of the unit’s troops. In addition to following the directives and instructions of the higher levels over the past time, the youths also overcame difficulties to fulfill their assigned tasks and firmly protect the national sovereignty and border security.

In the first half of the 2022–2027 period, youth organizations of the unit presented 1,454 gifts, 12,000 national flags, and built a number of public facilities while providing free health check-ups and medicines to 320 needy people in border areas, worth totally VND 2.2 billion, to name but a few.

Talking about the achievements of the youths, Secretary of the Thua Thien Hue provincial Youth Union Nguyen Thanh Hoai affirmed that the provincial border youths have well implemented youth activities and movements with good results and carried out many models for needy people in the area, contributing to promoting the pioneering role of the youths and to the socio-economic development in border areas.
