In Dong Long commune (Tien Hai district, Thai Binh province), the provincial Border Guard Command, in collaboration with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, organized the whole people’s border guard festival in 2023, during which the organizing panel handed over VND 700 million to assist needy households in coastal border areas in building houses.

The People’s Committee of Tien Hai district presented VND 30 million to help two families buy breeding cows, while Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (AgriBank) donated VND 50 million to assist the building of a house for children with the “Border Guard’s Foster Child” program and gave 50 gifts, worth VND 500,000 each. The Women’s Union of the provincial Border Guard Command presented 20 gifts, worth VND 450,000 each.
In the framework of the festival, the organizing panel provided free health check-up and medicines for local people and held sports competitions and games for locals. Volleyball, tug-of-war, and chess games attracted a large number of local participants. These activities contributed to consolidating military-civilian solidarity and building and protecting national sovereignty and security in border areas.
Over the past two years, thanks to the effective implementation of contents in the whole people’s border guard day and the “Whole people participate in protecting sovereignty and security in border areas” movement, locals’ living standards have been improved, rural traffic infrastructure has been developed, Party organizations have been consolidated, and defense and security have been firmly maintained.
Military and public security forces of communes have closely worked with Cua Lan Border Post to conduct patrol on land and at sea and donated a total of VND 80 million to assist the construction of two houses for the needy.
A similar event was also held in Phu Hai ward, Phan Thiet city, Binh Thuan province with the participation of representatives from agencies and fishermen.

During the festival, delegates recalled advantages, difficulties, roles, and responsibilities of Party committees, authorities, departments, agencies, mass organizations, and forces in organizing whole people’s border guard day and the “Whole people participate in protecting sovereignty and security in border areas” movement.
At the event, the organizing panel presented certificates of merit to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in protecting national sovereignty over sea and islands and gave 20 gifts to needy households and a scholarship to a needy student.
In Keng Du commune, Ky Son district, Nghe An province, Keng Du Border Post of the provincial Border Guard Command worked with Keng Du commune to hold an artistic program to mark the important day of the border guard force.
During the event, participants were entertained with songs praising the Party, Uncle Ho, Uncle Ho’s soldiers, tradition of the military and border guard force, and the solidarity between troops and people.
In Quang Binh, in realizing the “Safety for needy fishermen” program, launched by the Red Cross Society Central Committee, the provincial Border Guard Command, in collaboration with the provincial Red Cross Society, the provincial Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and local authorities, handed over funds to assist fishermen in border communes and wards of Quang Trach district and Ba Don town in building houses and developing domestic economy.

In particular, the mission handed over house construction funds, worth VND 50 million each, to four households and VND 10 million each to 12 families to help them buy breeding cow; presented 250 gifts, worth VND 335,000 each to fishermen and poor and near-poor households.
The “Safety for needy fishermen” program has been carried out in Quang Binh province since 2022 with a total spending of VND 2,5 billion to help fishermen overcome their difficulties.
In Quang Tri province, Ba Nang Border Post of the provincial Border Guard Command handed over poultry of different kinds and gifts to Van Kieu people in Ta Long and Ba Nang communes, Dakrong district under the sponsorship of Ong Cham Group from Hanoi.
