Border troops rescue two sunken vessels in Kien Hai Special Zone
PANO - On July 28, Nam Du Border Station under An Giang Province’s Border Guard successfully rescued two fishing vessels sunk due to heavy rain in the waters off Cu Tron hamlet, Kien Hai Special Zone. All nine crew-members aboard the two distressed vessels were brought to shore safely.
In detail, at 9:30, Nam Du Border Station received a report from local people about a vessel numbered CM-05006-TS with five crew-members on board, captained by Nguyen Van Khoi (born in 1974 from Ca Mau province), was sunk due to heavy rain and strong wind while conducting fishing activities about two nautical miles Southeast of Hon Lon Island.

About 20 minutes later, the unit received another information about a second sunken vessel about 2.5 nautical miles southeast of Hon Lon Island. The vessel, numbered CM-05430-TS, with four crew-members onboard, was captained by Tran Van Doan born in 1980 from Ca Mau province.
Upon receiving the information, the unit promptly mobilized personnel and vehicles for rescue operations. At 10:35 on the same day, the rescue force approached the two troubled vessels and rescued all nine crew members from both vessels. The survivors were safely transported to Bai Chet Border Control Station for health check-ups.

At 15:10, with strong support from local fishermen and civilian vessels, functional forces successfully towed both vessels to Bai Chet Port for repairs and recovery.
