* On September 9, the General Staff (GS) ordered agencies and units in the whole military, requesting them to strictly maintain a full-time duty, pro-actively grasp the developments of heavy rains, landslides, and flash floods; map out plans according to real situations; ensure the safety of barracks, warehouses, and construction sites; prepare forces and vehicles to be ready to respond promptly and effectively to incidents, while ensuring absolute safety for personnel and equipment during missions. Particularly, Military Region 2 (MR2) was asked to cooperate with the Engineering Corps and Phu Tho provincial authorities to swiftly carry out Search and Rescue (SAR) operations and measures to deal with the collapse of Phong Chau Bridge as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, the People's Army Newspaper, the Military Broadcasting Center, and other units were requested to actively report on troops’ efforts in supporting people in mitigating the impacts of natural disasters.

* On September 9 afternoon, GS Deputy Chief Sr. Lt. Gen. Huynh Chien Thang inspected the flood relief in Yen Bai province. Directly inspecting, directing, and encouraging the participating forces, Gen. Thang requested that the MR2 Command direct troops, militiamen, and other forces to work together to urgently rescue and evacuate people and property in flooded areas and areas at risk of landslides, and raise awareness of the local community to minimize the risks and consequences of natural disasters.
