According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, as of 7a.m. on September 3, the eye of the storm was at about 18.4 degrees North latitude, 119.8 degrees East longitude, in the Northeastern area of the East Sea. The typhoon is forecast to keep moving West-Northwest at about 10km per hour on September 4, and change to the West on September 5-6. In the following 72 to 120 hours, the storm will move mainly in the West-Northwest direction at 10-15km per hour, with gusts.

From September 4-6, Typhoon Yagi may reach very strong level in the Northeast of the East Sea. In the next 24 hours, 2-4m waves may occur in the Eastern part of the North East Sea, which may rise to 5-7m on September 4-6, causing rough sea which is very dangerous for ships operating in this area. Torrential rains are forecast in the area from Ha Tinh to Binh Dinh provinces, the Central Highlands and the South.
To pro-actively respond to the developments of the storm in the East Sea and heavy rains that may cause flash floods, landslides, and flooding in low-lying areas and urban areas in the Northern mountainous region, the Southern region, and the Central Highlands, the Search and Rescue Department requests military units strictly maintain duties, regularly update the developments of the storm, prepare vehicles and forces to respond to circumstances.
The Commands of Military Regions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 9; and the Hanoi Capital Command are requested to instruct the military commands of provinces and cities (districts) to closely monitor the developments of Typhoon Yagi, heavy rains in the Southern and the Central Highlands regions; review and supplement plans; advise party committees and local authorities and coordinate with units stationed in the area to prepare forces and vehicles for timely and effective response to situations; ensure absolute safety of personnel and equipment during mission execution.

The Vietnam Border Guard Command is instructed to direct the border guards of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Binh Thuan to coordinate with the provincial military commands and relevant agencies to strictly manage vehicles operating at sea, promptly notify ships’ owners and captains of boats operating at sea about the position, direction, and developments of Typhoon Yagi to pro-actively avoid or divert from dangerous areas; maintain regular communication, ready to respond to possible situations.
The Naval and Coast Guard Commands are asked to ensure the safety of vehicles operating at sea; prepare forces and vehicles for rescue operations when required. Meanwhile, the Air Defense - Air Force Service and Army Corps 18 are directed to prepare forces and aircraft for search and rescue operations when ordered by the Ministry of National Defense.
Army corps and and corps are instructed to take measures to ensure the safety of barracks and warehouses; actively coordinate with local party committees and authorities to prepare forces and vehicles for responding to heavy rains, flash floods, and landslides, and assist people in overcoming the aftermath.
